YOGA with AMAH is a moving meditation class based on traditional Hatha yoga postures sequenced to optimize mobility, flexibility, and kinesthetic awareness. Each class incorporates a short breathing exercise followed by a series of standing poses with an emphasis on skeletal alignment through symmetrical body positioning. It then moves on to longer held postures on the mat designed to release muscular tension in specific target areas of the body. Each movement within the sequence is cued and/or held with precise attention to the inhales & exhales. The final 3-5 minutes of class are reserved for silent recovery and re-regulation.
The standing sequences build body heat through steady paced movement, loosening muscles and thinning out fascia to improve physical mobility. The longer-held postures on the mat target specific muscle groups for compression and extension. This temporarily restricts and then reinvigorates blood circulation to enhance recovery and range of motion in these areas. Cueing breathing patterns in conjunction with movement heightens somatic (mind-body) awareness to enhance overall physical fitness
